Chronosonder

This rug is inspired by the concept of chronosonder—the realization that everyone who lived in the past had a full, complex life, just as rich and layered as yours.

We tend to think of history in broad strokes: wars, inventions, political shifts. But behind all that were millions of individual people—each with their own thoughts, jokes, regrets, sex lives, friendships, and bad days.

You’ll never know their stories. Most are completely lost to time. But they were real. Just as real as you.

The design of this piece plays with that idea. The color palette and stylized lines give it a sense of distortion, like an echo or a half-remembered dream. It’s meant to feel both present and distant, familiar but just out of reach.

The face is central—because history is made up of people, not events. And yet the details blur and fade, just like memory.

Chronosonder is a reminder that time doesn’t flatten people. We do.
